About Hafez
Khwaja Shams-ud-Din Muhammad Hafez-e Shirazi (1325-1390) — Persia's most beloved poet, known as the "Tongue of the Unseen." His verses exposing religious hypocrisy were so controversial that clerics initially refused to bury him in a Muslim cemetery.
Relevance Today
Seven centuries later, his words describe today's Islamic Republic with uncanny precision: clerics who preach austerity while controlling billions, who command morality while living in corruption, who claim divine authority while showing no fear of divine judgment.
